Have the courage to innovate and succeed in serial AM!

Innovation

When asked why industries so often lack innovation spirit, Prof. Dieter Kempf, President of the Federation of German Industries e.V. (BDI), replied: "If CEOs today complain that the good ideas emerge from startups only, this is because we make developers write standardized notes to the board. If we told them instead, ‘Here’s the money, now go ahead’, they might turn up with awesome ideas as well. We, the CEOs, have contributed a good deal to flatten creativeness."

In order to rouse your appetite for innovation, we would like to show you the innovation potential of Additive Manufacturing made by FIT in this edition of our AM News. Enjoy the read.

Sample case 1: Additive serial manufacturing of an automotive bracket

The additive manufacturing of serial parts is the result of a well-defined development process that aims at optimizing the part in question for AM. Optimization can take place in various degrees. The following example shows three significantly different approaches how to design a rear suspension bracket, ranging from a simple prototype to a sophisticated lightweight serial application. Find the comparison of reference values in our info sheet.

Sample case 2: 3D printed industrial spare parts

Availability problems of single components in spite of high inventory levels? We can offer you the solution to reduce costs for your spare parts management and to improve the availability of your spare parts at the same time. “Spare Parts on Demand“ (S.P.O.D.) is a ground-breaking concept for an innovative spare parts management by using 3D printing. Find all information in a nutshell in our fact sheet.

Sample case 3: Individualized consumer goods

Glasses, shoes, clothes, furniture: More and more consumers are seeking for customized items instead of
off-the-shelf products. This trend carries a tremendous market potential for the next years. AM is the perfect technology to create innovative end products for individual purposes.
And knowing that we are all unique individuals, you can find a fun application on the internet: Get your personal 3D printed figurine! This service is provided by FIT and Media Markt and is at present available in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Poland.

I think Prof. Dieter Kempf’s statement about today’s innovation ability of industries is totally right. What’s more, I’m convinced it is high time that we change this situation. After all, AM is a great means to turn many fantastic ideas into reality. Do not hesitate any longer; venture your first step into the direction of genuine innovation through additive serial manufacturing. We are here to guide you to success, offering you all our AM knowhow and expertise.

Did you know?

We have concentrated on the reliable and consistent manufacturing of serial parts for many years now. That’s why we…

  • established machine clusters with central material controlling and supply
  • developed proprietary software tools for process planning and process control
  • realized a high degree of process automation
  • introduced a digital process control
  • are able to grant a complete documentation and total traceability of your parts.
These are only a few examples to illustrate how important innovation is indeed for ourselves to be ”fit“ for the additive manufacturing of serial parts. Want to know more? Send us your request.
